Kids should be off limits!

Huffington Post reports that some sleazy lawyer was representing a client trying to sell a video of a young woman who resembled our current Vice President's daughter, supposedly snorting coke. The lawyer has since dropped the client and I haven't heard the latest on what happened to the video. But it sounds like it is very inconclusive as to the identity of the young woman. Even if it does turn out to be the daughter of VP Biden, so what?

The children of elected officials and any high profile people for that matter should be off limits to the media, unless they have chosen to be high profile themselves. I don't care if they're adults. I remember a few years back when the 21 year old son of a high profile Republican in MN was busted for smoking pot among other things. I was every bit as disgusted at the sleazy media coverage in that situation as I would have been if that child's parent happened to be an elected Democrat official. I did not celebrate when the Bush daughters got in trouble for underage drinking. I actually had a "good for her" moment when one of them stuck her tongue out at the media. Daddy made her apologize for that one.

Most parents try their best, whether or not they are Republicans or Democrats, to teach their children good values and how to make the best possible choices. In many cases,
despite our best efforts our children will make mistakes. Often some of the doosies are when those children are in their early adult years. And when we are accidental witnesses to the mistakes made by another person's child, we can't help but think, there but for the Grace of God . . .
