Kids should be off limits!

Huffington Post reports that some sleazy lawyer was representing a client trying to sell a video of a young woman who resembled our current Vice President's daughter, supposedly snorting coke. The lawyer has since dropped the client and I haven't heard the latest on what happened to the video. But it sounds like it is very inconclusive as to the identity of the young woman. Even if it does turn out to be the daughter of VP Biden, so what?

The children of elected officials and any high profile people for that matter should be off limits to the media, unless they have chosen to be high profile themselves. I don't care if they're adults. I remember a few years back when the 21 year old son of a high profile Republican in MN was busted for smoking pot among other things. I was every bit as disgusted at the sleazy media coverage in that situation as I would have been if that child's parent happened to be an elected Democrat official. I did not celebrate when the Bush daughters got in trouble for underage drinking. I actually had a "good for her" moment when one of them stuck her tongue out at the media. Daddy made her apologize for that one.

Most parents try their best, whether or not they are Republicans or Democrats, to teach their children good values and how to make the best possible choices. In many cases, despite our best efforts our children will make mistakes. Often some of the doosies are when those children are in their early adult years. And when we are accidental witnesses to the mistakes made by another person's child, we can't help but think, there but for the Grace of God . . .

So if there really is a God, and we supposedly go to this better place when we're dead, then I'm really not such a bad person for wishing my mean boss would just up and die during his surgery on Thursday, right? After all, he would be going to a "better place" right? Well in his case maybe not. . .

As a pollyanna optimist I am still blindsided by people who are not only just plain mean, but derive pleasure from scheming at new and improved ways to be mean. And whatever happened to Karma? How come this mean boss, who has a bull in a china shop social skills, offending just about everyone he comes in contact with in the work place, manages to keep his job?????? While dedicated hard working people like myself, end up being the scapegoat for his incompetencies. . . I have endured this guy for 20 months and 16 days, and am trying my hardest not to quit before I find another job. If I can just make it through one more day, I will have 2 and a half sabotage free weeks while he's out on medical leave, having his mysterious surgery of which he doesn't want to share the details. Some people at work are hoping it is a lobotomy, but I'm thinking that would take more than two weeks of recovery. I just hope I can find another job in such a short time. . . . .
